Color Journal #4

This is a small piece of an old Normal Rockwell print my brother gave to me a hundred years ago. It’s called Painting Coat and was created in 1927. The funny thing is, when you view the painting through the link here, the colors aren’t nearly as attractive to me as what is hanging in my home. Maybe it’s the added yellows of aging paper versus the bright whites of a glowing screen—either way, I definitely prefer the former. It reminds me of a vintage Christmas palette, a slight riff from traditional green and red into something more turquoise-y and red-orange.

My other question is… why is that boy’s hand so massive??
