Breaking the mold ain't easy.

...Off-roading takes guts.

Have you ever developed something wildly special and then suddenly realize... you’re not in Kansas anymore? That your “almighty a-ha!” (as we like to call it) is un-google-able? There are no white papers to support it. No case studies. No scholarly articles. And despite that, you know you want to need to MUST take the next step forward.

And that...

Takes.

Guts.

Think about the last time you were fully absorbed by a project—propelled by whatever it is that makes your mind spark. The combination of a looming deadline and an unhealthy amount of caffeine fuels you to push forward. Every moment that ticks by inches you closer to a never-before-seen solution. Finally, you’ve got it. You close your notebook (electronic or otherwise) and eyelids—still high from the breakthrough you’ve crafted and ready to add those finishing touches in the morning. You crushed it. Well done. Lights out.

But when dawn breaks—the shine has faded. That nugget of brilliance you hatched the night before now seems dim. Thoughts start racing through your head,

“What if this won’t work?”,

“What if people don’t get it?”

You consider scrapping it all and taking the safer route.

DON’T.

Because here is where courage matters most. In this moment, you have to trust yourself. By having the guts to stand by your idea, you can affect change in a way that people will not only notice, but benefit from.

So when the morning light finally creeps in, don’t let doubt creep in with it. Find the courage to take your idea and thoughtfully polish it with the realities of daylight. Just make sure those realities don’t scare you into dulling that spark from the night before.
